The app was born from an acquisition and evolved into something entirely new. We combined cutting-edge AI with thoughtful interaction design to help sellers photograph their products, automatically generate clean, branded backgrounds, and publish commerce-ready imagery — all without professional gear. Our design team made critical tradeoffs near launch, prioritizing quality over quantity by scoping to a single-image flow and deferring more complex features like multi-style backgrounds as fast follows. These calls proved pivotal in meeting the timeline without compromising on polish. Despite the compressed schedule and technical constraints, the product made an immediate impact. Photo Studio saw over 16,000 downloads in its first week, launched with a 4.8/5.0 App Store rating, and achieved a CSAT of 70% — unusually high for a brand-new tool. Over time, usage scaled dramatically: 170,000+ downloads, 1.7 million+ photos captured, and a 17% lift in Square Online GMV per item within 14 days of use — a direct, measurable impact on seller performance. Beyond the numbers, Photo Studio stood out as a deeply collaborative effort. I worked closely with product, engineering, and eCommerce stakeholders to navigate scope, align priorities, and bring the app to market on time. It’s a product I’m incredibly proud of — built with speed, craft, and seller empathy at the center of every decision.
